About Janel Barksdale - Roses and Thorns Founder

Janel Barksdale has energy similar to that of the energizer bunny.  She has the ability to draw you in with her magnetic personality.   She describes herself to be an introvert standing in the shoes of an extrovert.  Because of this, she has the ability to embrace you rather you are an introvert or extrovert.

She is passionate about the organization she founded; Roses and Thorns, and works to execute its mission; authentic conversations that transforms, liberates and empowers the lives of women.

These experiences; roses and thorns, well describe the state of existence of the lives of most women.  We have the rose petal experiences of life that are beautiful, fragrant, and glorious to behold.  In contrast, there also exist painful, hurtful, conflicting experiences in life.  It is my prayer that you gain strength and sisterhood as you connect with other women of faith.

Janel developed a love for the written word as a child.  She loved the power of a book and the unique and wonderful places she could go through its pages and her imagination.

As a teen, she wrote poetry and plays and in 1995, she wrote her first book, The Praise, and Worship of a Woman.  She chose not to publish the book but gave it as a Mother's Day gift to her mother, Julia Mae Barksdale.  

It was March 2016 that Janel published her first book. Since then, she has eleven published titles with two additional books to be published this year and three books she is in development and research for.  Visit the store and pick up a copy of her work for yourself and don't forget to choose something for a friend.
